Neil Perry is the consummate meat master, from his crowd-pleasing wagyu burger in the bar to the mighty 31-day, dry-aged, full-blood wagyu fillet in the restaurant proper. But there’s more to RB&G than beef.

Only the decision-phobic could fail to enjoy Rockpool Bar & Grill, though they’d at least have the joy of sitting in the magnificent dining space… Neil Perry’s sprawling menu, listing some of the best beef and seafood in the country, and a similarly broad-reaching and finely tuned wine list could tip them.

Perry and chef Khan Danis deliver a pleasingly unpretentious menu that traverses everything from accomplished pasta, salads and seafood dishes to meat and fish from the wood-fire and charcoal grill… Everything is delivered smoothly, if not always, swiftly, by legions of floor staff and the dessert menu is a playful and irresistible list, from chocolate jaffa mousse cake to passionfruit pavlova.

The soaring, green marble art deco room is every bit as beautiful and breathtaking as the winelist, which boasts Sydney”s most expensive drop (a “45 Romanee-Conti for $90 000, with a little change). The king of modern Sydney dining, Neil Perry, has bought his Melbourne steakhouse home in a final dramatic statement of his philosophy.
